Did you know that if it takes you less than five minutes to fall asleep, you are sleep deprived? The ideal time is between 10-15 minutes. Personally it usually takes me about an hour to fall asleep. A lot of my friends don't fall asleep that easily either.
Did you know, the record for the longest period without sleep is 18 days 21 hours and 40 minutes. And that was during a rocking chair marathon. I don't think that I could go that long without sleeping. I really like my sleep, and without it...well lets just say I'm not myself.
Also a new baby typically results in 400-750 hours of lost sleep for the parents in the first year. Isn't that amazing? I don't think that I would be very happy if my child made me loose that much sleep.
Did you know that tiny little luminous rays from a digital alarm clock can be enough to disrupt the sleep cycle even if your not fully awake. The light turns off a "neural switch" in your brain, thus causing levels of a key sleep chemical to decline within minutes. Isn't that amazing? I didn't know that those little lights could mess up your whole sleeping schedule.
OK that's all I have right now but I will definitely add more.

The Big Trip part 3
The dreaded day was finally here. The moving vans were all packed up and ready to go. Mary had come to say goodbye. It was the day before Lizzie's 16 birthday, and all the invitations had to be recollected. Lizzie and Mary were both crying.
"I know that you'll love it in California. Say hi to all the celebrities for me." Mary said, her voice stuffy from crying so much.
"I will, if I do ever meet any celebrities. I promise that I'll write you every day! And I'm transporting my laptop and I will have it on the plane. Email me everyday! Oh, wow I'm really going to miss you!" Lizzie started sobbing all over again.
"Come on honey, time to go to the airport. " Lizzie's mother said.
"Well, I guess this is good bye." Mary said.
"Ya, I guess so."
"OK, well goodbye." Mary said. Then she ran off. She couldn't stand goodbyes. Lizzie climbed into their limo and they were off. When they got to the airport, they climbed into their private jet. When they arrived to California, it was 11:30 at night. It was a long flight and Lizzie was tired. Her father had a house all ready for them to move into.
When they got home, they unloaded all their necessary belongings. Lizzie had her bed, her desk, and her armchair all set up in her room before she went to bed. By that time it was already 2:00 in the moring. Lizzie was tired and fell right to sleep. That nighttshe dreamed of fire and rain. When she woke up, everything was still dark. She got out of bed and went down to the kitchen.

My Old Life
When I was younger I lived in Africa. I was actually adopted there. My mom and my dad got married in Mali. After they got married they went to India where they then adopted my sister. They came back to Africa and they waited for about a year or so then they adopted me. I lived in Africa the first two years of my life. I don't really remember anything, but I have seen videos. The earliest video was me when I had just arrived to our house in Nairobi, Kenya. Our family used to have two dogs and I wasn't really used to them. But later on as I got older, we started going to game parks and other things. Once we went to a game park and got less than a yard away from a rhino.
When we moved back here to the United States, we went looking for houses. Whenever my sister or I saw a house with a play set out back, we would say "Mama can we get that house?", even if the house wasn't for sale. It was really funny. Finally we bought the house that we are living in today. We have a nice puppy named Latte and we all live happily for ever after!! :D

My Dog Latte
Latte, my dog, is a corgi and a spaniel mix. She is really cute. We adopted her from Lost Dog Foundation. Here is the story.
Our family wanted another dog because we had to put our old on to sleep. We found out that Lost Dog comes to Petsmart every Saturday. We went to the closest Petsmart and got out of the car. When we looked around, we saw lots of dogs out on the sidewalk with people who worked at Lost Dog or were volunteering there. We looked at all the dogs outside and found a few we liked. My dad wanted a really big "manly" dog, but my mom (who would be around the dog the most becuase she works from home) wanted a small dog.
My mom and I went inside to try to find smaller dogs. I found a really small one that I really liked, but my mom said that it was a little to small. As we walked around some more, we came across the donation dog. The donation dog was the dog that wears a little vest that says donations and the people could give donations for Lost Dog. I started to sit down so I could pet her. We asked the woman what her name was and the woman answered, "Latte."
My mom thought she was the perfect dog. After we got some more information on Latte we decieded that she was the one. We took her over to the adoption booth. They took the little vest off of her and said she was ours, well after we filled out tons of forms. We went around and found a leash, a collar, water and food bowls, and lots and lots of toys. After that we asked what kind of food Latte eats and they gave us the brand name. They called Latte's foster mommy and told her to come. The foster mom gave us a list of things that Latte likes. I looked up into the womans eyes and noticed that she was crying. She had brought her dog with her. Latte and the womans dog got to be very good friends.
Both the dogs were wimpering. We tried to keep the dogs away from each other. After we got everything we needed for Latte, we took her home. I took her into my room and told her to jump up onto my bed. Latte jupmed up and snuggled into my pillows. I went and sat next to her and gave her a big hug. We finally had a dog, and she is ours forever.

The Big Trip part 2
Lizzie put Coco back in her cage and went down stairs.
"Lizzie, we need to talk." Her father said.
"About what Daddy?" Lizzie replied.
"Well...I got a job offer in California. There are houses selling there and they need my help to repair them."
"WHAT?!?! You can't do that to me! Its almost my birthday and I need to stay here. I can't leave." Lizzie said.
"Honey, I'm sorry but we have to go." Her mom said.
"But why can't they get someone in California to do it? Why do you have to go?" Lizzie said, tears starting to run down her face.
"They like your father's work. They think that the houses will sell better if he fixes them up rather than someone in California." Her mom said, walking over and stroking her hair. Lizzie pushed her mom's hand away and ran up to her room. She picked up her phone, which had its own private line, and dialed her best friends cell phone.
"Hello?" Her best friend Mary said.
"Hi, it's me Lizzie." Lizzie said, obvious disappointment in her voice.
"Lizzie, is something wrong?" Mary said.
"My dad got a stupid job in California, and...and I have to move there." Lizzie said crying all over again.
"What do you mean that you have to move? You can't move! You're my best friend!"
"I'm so sorry. I tried to convince them not to go, but they just wouldn't listen to me." Mary hung up on Lizzie. "Mary, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." Lizzie stormed down stairs and went into the living room. Her parents were sitting on the couch looking at brochures for California.
"I can't believe you guys! You made my best friend hate me!" Lizzie said. She was crying all over again.
"Lizzie what are you talking about? Nobody hates you." her mom said in a very calm voice.
"Oh ya? Well then why did my best friend hang up on me?" Lizzie said. She turned around and went back up stairs. She slammed her door so hard that the chandelier in her bedroom shook. She started blasting her music and went and sat on her bed. She picked up her pillow and screamed into it. Then she thought of a way that she didn't have to go with her parents. She picked up the phone and dialed Mary's number.
