“I have a list of things that I want to do before I die.” Alex said.
“Why didn’t you tell anybody about it?” Alice asked.
“Because I wanted it to be a secret, I didn’t want any help fulfilling it. But now that I don’t have that much time left, I need your help.” Alex said.
“Oh, Alex, don’t be so negative.” Alice said.
“But will you help me do everything on my list...or almost everything?” Alex asked.
“Of course I will. What all is on your list?” Alice asked.
“1. I want to get a tattoo
2. I want to be in two places at once
3. I want to get a dog
4. I want to get an award for something
5. I want to have a star named after me
Those are only some of the things that I want to do. I have a lot more.” Alex said.
“Well...I can help you with only a few of those things. The others you need to do on your own. But let’s start with the tattoo. Come over to my house we might have a few.” Alice said.
“Okay, let me go tell my dad.” Alex walked out of the room. When she came back in, they called Alice’s mom and she came and picked them up. When they got to Alice’s house, they went in the bathroom and looked for tattoos.
“We have butterflies, flowers, and fairies. Choose one or two.” Alice said. Alex chose the butterflies and told Alice where she wanted it. She put in on her shoulder.
“Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I can cross that one off my list now. What can I do for the award?”
“Well...I think that there’s a writing contest coming up in a few months. You can enter that if you want.”
“Great idea, I’ll start working right away.” Alex said. Alex’s dad came over and picked Alex up.
* * *
Three weeks passed. Alex got really sick and was in the hospital. She had entered her paper into the contest and didn’t have the results yet. Alice came into the hospital room with a few packages.
“Alex? I have a surprise for you.” Alice said. She walked over to Alex’s bed and opened a crate. A small golden retriever popped out of the box and jumped onto Ale’s bed. “Her name is Alex too. I got her for you.”“Oh Alice this is amazing! Thank you so much!” Alex said.
“One more thing, but its outside. Can you get up?” Alice asked.
“Yeah I can get up now.” Alex said. She stood up and walked over to the window.
“Look at that star right there. Do you know which one that is?” Alice asked.
“Umm...No I’ve never heard of it. What is it?”
“Its name is Alex. I named it after you.” Alice said in tears now.
“Oh Alice that is probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me!” Alex said. She gave her cousin a hug. They walked back over to the bed. Alex went back into bed.
“Alex, how much longer do you have to live?” Alice asked.
“Not very long, but its ok don’t worry. You’ll be fine.” Alex said, in a calm voice. Alice got up and left the room, crying as she left.
* * *
After about three hours the doctor came out of the room and told us the news. Alex had gone, and left only her lifeless body behind. Alice cried like there was no tomorrow.
“Why did she have to leave us? Why couldn’t she have stayed?” Alice asked.
About a week later, they got the results for the contest. Alex had won with flying colors. She couldn’t go to receive her award, so Alice went for her.
“Alex was one of the greatest people I have ever known. She helped me with everything. She would have been proud to win this award, but unfortunately she isn’t here anymore. But I’m sure that she is looking down on us right now.”
Life went on as normal, but without Alex to help Alice to get though things.
THE END!

Living the Life chapter 7
“Alex has leukemia.” The nurse continued.
“What happens to you when you have that?” Alice asked.
“Leukemia is the cancer of the blood cells. Blood cells are made by bone marrow, which is the soft tissue in the middle of most bones. When you have leukemia, the bone marrow starts making to many white blood cells, and sometimes theses cells don’t work correctly. The cells keep growing when they were supposed to stop. They also grow faster than all the other blood cells. Over time, the abnormal cells crowd out your normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.” The nurse replied.
“Is she going to die?” Alice asked.
“She has a chance of it...and this time it’s a much larger chance than the other disease that she had.” The nurse said. “If you want darling, you can go in and see her. She’s still a little sleepy from the medicine.”
Alice walked into the room where Alex was sleeping.
“Hi Alex, how are you feeling?” Alice said.
“A little bit better, but not that great. I’m going to have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks to recover. Make sure that you come and visit every day.”
“I will Alex, I promise.” Alice said. She walked over and gave Alex a hug then went out of the room.

As the weeks wore on, Alex got better and better, but not well enough to be cured. After she got out of the hospital, she spent every moment with Alice. Alice took care of Alex to no end. One day when they were at the park, Alex told Alice something that she had never told anyone else.

Living the Life Chapter 6
Alice noticed that something was wrong with Alex the next day. She was pale and not acting like herself. Alice called her uncle and asked him to come right away. He came over right away.
“This better be good. I had to leave work early.” Her uncle said to her.
“Come here, I need you to see Alex.” Alice said her voice rushed and trying to move quickly. They walked into Alex’s room. She was laying on the bed her face pale. She had wet towels on her head. She looked really sick. Her breathing was heavy. She stood up and tried to walk to her father. Then she collapsed in his arms.
“Go get the phone. We are going to have to call 9-1-1 again. I don’t know what’s wrong with her. Do you have your cell phone?”
“Always, who do you need me to call?”
“Call Alex’s mother and sister. Tell them that we are at the hospital with Alex again. Tell them to meet us there as soon as possible.”
“Okay, I’ll go check if the ambulance is here yet.” She walked outside and started to hear the sirens calling. “UNCLE TOM! THEY’RE HERE!” The ambulance came in and got Alex. They took her to the hospital. When they arrived, Alex’s family was already there.
“Is she okay? What happened to her? Where is she?” Alex’s mother asked, full of concern for her baby girl.
“She’s in the operating room. They’re running tests on her. She should be okay.” Her dad said. Just then the nurse walked out.
“Family of....Alex Jones?” She asked
“Yes that’s us. Is she okay?” Alex’s mother asked.
“Well...actually...she has...”

Living the Life chapter 5
The next morning Alice and her mom rushed to Alex’s house. They knocked on the door and Alex’s dad opened the door. He looked tired. Alice pushed by him and ran into the house and into Alex’s room. Alex was lying on the floor motionless, just like in her dream.
“SOMEONE HELP! ALEX IS HURT! CALL 9-1-1! QUICK SHE NEEDS MEDICAL HELP RIGHT AWAY!” everyone came rushing into Alex’s room.
“I’ll get the phone. Alice, tell your mother to start the car.” Alex’s dad said. “Alice you are going in the ambulance along with Alex’s mother. Keep them safe for me. We’ll meet you at the hospital.” The ambulance came in about 5 minutes and took Alex, Alex’s mother, and Alice away to the hospital. Alice’s mom and Alex’s dad followed behind in a car.
At the hospital, they took us to a room that was in the back wing. They hooked Alex up to machines that kept her breathing steady. Alice was sitting by Alex the whole time until she had to leave. They did tests on Alex and took her blood and everything just like in Alice’s dream. But this time...they found a match.
After a few hours of operating on Alex, people were let into her room again, but only two at a time. Alice and Alex’s mother went in first. Alice ran over and sat down next to Alex. She was still asleep, and she looked so peaceful.
Everyone got a chance to see Alex, and then the doctors came out of the room.
“Are the family members of Alex here?” The nurse asked.
“Yes, that’s all of us.”
“Well, Alex is doing very well. She is going to need to stay in the hospital for a few days to recuperate. But then she will be able to go home with all of you again. You are allowed to visit her everyday until she goes home. She will be on antibiotics for the next few months, so you need to make sure that you give her that everyday.”
“Okay, will do. Thank you for all your help with my little girl.” Alex’s mom said. After saying their last goodbyes to Alex the family was on their way again.

After the two days were up, Alex was taken home. She was told just to rest in bed for a few days until she felt better. Alice and Alex decided to see each other everyday until they die. They spent so much time together that they were practically sisters. They spent everyday after school together. They got really close and told each other everything that was happening in their lives. Everything was working out fine until one day, everything possible went wrong.

Living the LIfe chapter 4
Alice sat on her bed her eyes bloodshot. She didn’t understand why it had to happen to her cousin.
“Why not someone else, why her?” She thought. She walked downstairs to the amazing smell of crescent rolls roasting in the oven.
“Mom, why her, why Alex, why not me?” Alice said.
“Oh honey, I know you’re worried but its ok. She’ll be fine.” Her mom said.
“OK. Well, I think that I’m going to go to bed now because it’s getting late. See you in the morning.”
“Goodnight honey. Sweet dreams.” Her mom said. As Alice was walking up the stairs, she was wondering if her cousin really would be ok. She went up to bed and turned off her light. That night she dreamt of horrible things.
Alex was walking down a hallway and then she collapsed. She was still able to talk, but no one was around to help her. She just lay there on the floor screaming. She wanted to go and help but there was no way that she could go now. It was too late. Alex closed her eyes and stopped screaming. She was just lying there, motionless. Alex was rushed to the hospital. When Alice walked in Alex was hooked up to all theses machines. Tubes were going up her nose and in her mouth. She looked horrible. They were taking blood from her to see if they could find any matches for her blood type. If they couldn’t...well then Alex was out of luck. They went and looked at blood types for some of their patients. Nobody was a match to Alex. Just then Alice woke up. She was on the floor just sitting there. She must have fallen out of bed.
Her mother came rushing into the room.
“Honey are you ok? What happened?”
“Mom,” Alice said sobbing, “I think something happened to Alex.”
